Having a hot tub at the comfort of your own home allows you to enjoy life’s greater luxuries. Nothing beats the feeling of relaxing in your hot tub after a particularly hard day. The sensation brought by the warm water and gentle bubbles immediately alleviates your tension, melts away your stress, and brings peace and calm.
Of course, those good things will happen if you are having trouble with algae and bacteria build-up in your hot tub! New hot tub owners may not realize that maintaining a hot tub requires more than fishing off the dried leaves that have fallen in it.
If you want your watery oasis to give you more moments of relaxation and fun memories, you should make regular maintenance a priority. Don’t forget to keep the debris out when you utilize Be-Lite Spa’s hot tub covers. Our covers can hold up under pressure from debris, snow load, kids, and pets. With our aluminum covers, you can save a lot of water, keep it clean for a long time, and keep your loved ones safe.
4 Tips for Regular Hot Tub Care throughout the Summer
To keep your hot tub in the best condition, consider following these tips:
1.Schedule a weekly inspection and maintenance. Choose a preferred day of the week to do the following steps:
- Remove the accumulated debris, such as fallen leaves and twigs.
- Wipe the waterline clean.
- Clean out the skimmer basket.
- Clean your cover by using a wet cloth or a diluted bleach solution. Clean both its top and bottom.
- Test the pH balance, alkalinity, and chlorine levels of the spa water, and then try to get everything properly adjusted.
- Shock your spa by using either a chlorine-based or non-chlorine shock. Leave the cover off for a few hours afterward to let the chemical gases off.
2. Keep the proper spa water balance and use the best sanitation chemicals. Always remember that hot tubs often tend to accumulate build-ups of soap residues, perfumes, deodorants, oil, and perspiration. Bromine is the top choice for most hot tub owners as it works well in higher temperatures and is also less harsh on the skin. Chlorine is also a good choice.
3. Clean the filter every month. Remove the filter and rinse it with clean tap water. Use a garden house to spray the filter to remove any built-up dirt and debris. It’s a good idea to have at least another filter so that you can have a clean one to use right away, and then rinse the dirty one and have it ready for the next month.
4. Change your hot tub water only as needed. It depends on how frequently (or rarely) you use your hot tub. If you use it quite often, then you may have to drain once a month. If you don’t use it that much, it calls for less draining. Ideally, you may want to drain your hot tub at the beginning of summer and then wait until fall to do another drain.
